Squareiculum vitae

Joe Kromer was born on December, 27th 1967 in Freiburg, Germany and is married to his wife Caroline since September, 9th 1995. They have a son named Lukas who was born on January, 4th 1997 and a son names Stefan born on April, 23rd , 1998.
Their third Child Lucie was born on August, 21st , 2001.

Caroline and Joe live in Tannheim, a small village near Villingen-Schwenningen in the beautiful Black Forest. In their "normal" live Caroline works as a consultant in Quality-Management and Joe as an Engineer for professional kitchen-fittings.

Joe started dancing with the Schwäbisch Sweethearts in Schwäbisch Hall in 1991. During the Class his Club Caller Hans-Gerd Gasser brought up the idea of becoming a Caller. On May, 10th 1992, the day of his Mainstream Graduation Joe did hid first Tip and decided to become a Caller.     

Thru the summer Joe got the chance to call regularily some tips each clubnight for the Very Hot Square Dancers in Oberndorf where his brother Martin Kromer was Club-Caller, and was asked to be the Co-Caller of Martin.

In October 1992 Joe went thru his first Caller School with Al Stevens and Bill Peters and got the tools to start over.
In January 1993 Joe was hired as Mainstream-Club-Caller for the Tamburis Stuttgart were he called his first Special in March together with the Plus-Club-Caller Martin Kull and guest Dave Preskitt.  

Working hard in his Clubs Joe was known more and more and until now he called several Special Dances, Regional Conventions and nation-wide Jamborees.
Alb Dream Dancers' Badge     In 1995 Joe started a class in the programm of the "Volkshochschule" (adlut education courses) in Albstadt-Ebingen. Out of this class the Alb Dream Dancers were founded for which Joe called till End of 2000. In Albstadt he taught Alex Merli to call. She's now the Claubcaller in Albstadt.

Due to the end of his University-education and the start of a new job Joe unfortunately had to quit as club caller for the Tamburins Stuttgart in summer 1996.

In 1999 Joe founded the Black Forest Ghosts, his actual Club.
They dance Plus and A1.

Also in 1999 Joe was asked by Kenny Reese if he's interested in caller education. Joe was and so he was scheduled as Trainee for Kenny's Callerschool 2000 2001 and 2002.


Eventually Joe was the second german caller to acheive the title of Callerlab Accredited Caller Coach in 2003.

2005 Joe founded his label for Square Dance Music Gramophone Productions, where he's breaking new ground in Square Dance music.

2008 Joe started running and was participant of several Half-Marathons since then. See the kilometers he has run since 2008
